Why join

There are essentially two questions for anyone wanting to join Alfred Robbins Lodge:

  1. Why do I want to be a Freemason?
  2. What is the right Lodge for me?

Why do I want to be a Freemason?

Although Freemasonry is not religious, it does require that every member believes in a “higher being”, so members from all religions are welcomed. Beyond that belief, successful Freemasons have two things in common – a strong desire to help their fellow man across the communities in which they live and an equal desire for self-improvement.

Some in the general public believe that Freemasonry is self-serving, that you will be able obtain more business and be let off (say) speeding fines if you’re a Freemason. Nothing could be further from the truth. The expectation of personal gain through Freemasonry is a completely wrong motive for joining and will only lead to your disappointment.

SUMMARY OF REASONS FOR JOINING FREEMASONRY

I believe in a God or higher being
I want to help society and my local community
I want to make myself a better person
I want to be socially active and meet other like-minded men
I’m in it for the drinking and eating
I want to personally benefit from Freemasonry

Why do I want to join Alfred Robbins Lodge?

A small and extremely friendly Lodge
An experienced and supportive base of senior members
A supportive rather than “tutter” environment
Fast-track to higher roles – if you so desire
Rapid promotion prospects
I enjoy socialising with like-minded individuals
